Unlike traditional methods, digital printing operates through a data-to-print process, removing the need for printing plates or clichés. Ink is applied directly onto the material in fine droplets, enabling highly detailed graphics while also supporting efficient and streamlined production.

Following a recent investment in white digital printing technology at Mondi’s Ebersdorf facility in Germany, the company can now achieve high-opacity printing with crisp definition, delivering premium-quality visuals on brown kraftliner substrates.

In addition to enhanced visual appeal, data-to-print technology provides significant functional benefits. Multiple print variations can be created within a single production run, making it easier to produce regional editions or customised designs without extra set-up requirements.

Serialised barcodes and QR codes can also be incorporated, allowing every pack to be individually identified throughout the supply chain, improving traceability and supporting automated operations.

The outcome is a fully recyclable retail packaging solution that combines strong visual impact with the high-quality standards expected by Riedel Glas.
